St.
Patrick’s Day is also referred to as St. Paddy’s Day or just Paddy’s
Day.The holiday celebrates
St. Patrick who is a patron saint of Ireland.Most people celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day on March 17th.Though many in the United States continue to work and participate
in regular activities, for those in Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day is a
national holiday.
Many
celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day by wearing green. What might be strange to
learn, however, is that the color originally associated with Saint Patrick
was blue.The Shamrock was
used by St. Patrick for the purpose of sharing the Holy Trinity with those
who weren’t of the Christian faith.Each leaf was used to represent a member of the trinity.
There are
many celebrations associated with St. Patrick’s Day and some of these
focus on the color green, drinking green beverages, and cities adding
green dye to public fountains or bodies of water, such as rivers.
