too many scarf patterns; too few interesting patterns
Lots of scarf patterns and none of them that I liked. In fact, I did not find a single pattern in this book that interested me. I’ll probably try to sell it on ebay.

Lots of inspiration for life and for crochet
So far, I’ve made two sweaters from the patterns included in this book. The skill level is easier than indicated and the patterns themselves are easy to follow. I like that the author makes comments on several of the patterns - one being to make it in a color you might not choose, to stretch your comfort zone. Overall a good resource for patterns in a wide range of sizes.

Great book!
This is a great book - clear instructions and some great funky accessories and beautiful clothes - I love the tangerine top. I’m so glad I got this book - the only problem is I just don’t want to put it down! Any crocheter would be happy with this book.

Excelent book!
I have turned to this book time and time again for that perfect gift to make. I have split up the country hearts afghan into 2 baby afghans for twin girls. i have let family members go “shopping” through this patern book and have turned to it numerous times. Well written, easy to follow paterns. Afghans that will truley be cherished by anyone who recieves them!

True Satisfaction
I began crocheting a year ago and have truly enjoyed these patterns. What sets them apart is the edging - so beautiful, so unique, and each one I have made becomes an heirloom for the recipient. I have made Timeless Lace, Absolutely Gorgeous, Grandma’s Lace, and plan to make several others. My favorite projects thus far, and truly worth the time and effort I put in.

Great Patterns…wish there were more included…..
This is a great pattern leaflet by Leisure Arts and Amy Gaines. The patterns, are fun, creative, and easy to make. I have so far made two of the patterns, and found the directions to be very clear and easy to follow, no errors, and consistent results. Large full color photographs, and templates included for all felt pieces.

My only “complaint” is that there are only 8 patterns. And two of them are so similar (the two bears–one is about an inch larger with a different outfit) that it almost difficult to count them as two separate distinct patterns. It is a bit difficult to justify the regular price when you can buy Ana Paula Rimoli’s “Amigurumi World” book for just about $2-3 more (Amazon price) and receive about 3 times the amount of patterns.

However, I purchased this leaflet for 40% off with a coupon at Michaels, and this leaflet has been well worth the discounted price. I hope that Amy Gaines (who sells patterns on etsy) will publish more of her patterns in a leaflet or book form.

Very well done!!! Highly Recommended!

I Would Not Have Bought This If I Knew…
I’m fairly new to this art and had read through other reviews that this was a decent book for beginners. Not only was that reviewer wrong, but there are no helpful pictures/images that break down the steps-it’s all based on knowledge you are supposed to know already…

The completed image of each creature is used to be a “guide.” Needless to say, it would have been a great book if it had a little more detail with images.

Great fun!
This a great book for crocheters. The animals are just adorable and the character description added for each one is hysterical. It really adds to their personalities. I can hardly wait to make each and every one for my grandchild!

Great book, but some skill required
I’ve had this book for nearly a week. I was a non-crocheter when I received it and now I can honestly say that I can crochet! I’m still trying to make the monkey from the cover.

I think the skill levels are bit askew, as the easy pieces should be intermediate and the intermediate pieces should be labeled as hard (the humanoids). There aren’t really any easy projects for a beginning crocheter. I found the stitch diagrams very easy to follow and although the patterns are complicated, they can be done with a little trial and error. I bought this book especially for the humanoids, so I really don’t mind that most of the other projects aren’t for me. I did find it annoying that some of the patterns call for several different size hooks. I don’t think it should be necessary to buy a full set of hooks in every size!
A beginner might find the wording a bit difficult. In several instances, the instructions merely say “evenly spaced around” instead of giving exact instructions. This is extremely confusing when it wants you to increase so many stitches over several rows. The other amigurumi book I have, Amigurumi World by Ana Rimoli, is much better with directions as it tells you exactly which stitch to do when. It doesn’t assume that you can figure it out on your own, and you shouldn’t have to since you bought the directions!

Overall, a beginner can have success with this book, so give it a try! Just don’t be surprised if it takes you a few tries to get it right.
LOVELY, MODERATELY - EASY PATTERNS
If you love creating toys, dolls, etc. buy this book! It’s helped me to crochet VARIED toys for my grandchildren and for charities… The patterns are easy for a person who has done some other crocheting. If you are JUST starting out and are strictly NEW to crocheting: Start with things like potholders, etc. Then move on to dolls, amigurumi, and other fun stuff! The book is a good buy and I’m using it all the time! Have fun crocheting…

Crochet Amigurumi - Excellent book
Excellent book for anyone wanting to make crochet Amigurumi. The first part of the book is dedicated to giving very clearly written & illustrated “how to” for crochting in general, along with excellent explainations about yarn types and supplies.

Happy Hooker
Very good, fun, modern projects that anyone can do. Makes crocheting fun for all ages!

Editor needs to take another look
This books has so much potential, but I was severely disappointed by all the errors in the patterns. It literally makes it difficult to follow. They are such cute projects, and it is a shame, but I don’t recommend this book until it has a make-over. The errata page on [...] has errors, too. (for errata: [...]

So So
Overall, I like this book. It’s nicely organized, has good visuals, some good ideas…I give three stars for effort. However, I just can’t stand the language used in this book. It’s just too corny like they’re trying to dumb down to a 10 year old. The patterns are also so-so—nothing special for all the hype this series has received. Props for trying to be hip, but it’s “hip” in a Nickelodeon sort of way, very cliched teenager stuff with skulls and all.
